NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Although the Cameron Art Museum has a lot to offer inside, next weekend, they encourage you to head outside for an important fundraiser.
The Art Moves Midtown 5K and Minnie’s Mile are happening Friday evening, May 11 and have events for families of all ages and abilities. The events will help to benefit Cameron Art Museum and its educational mission. As a non-profit, the museum aims to bring different cultures together and celebrate the world and one another.
Minnie’s Mile will begin at 6:30 p.m. and be a fun run on a flat course along the Cross City Trail. This run will help raise awareness of local artist Minnie Evans.
The 5K happens at 7:15 p.m. and will feature parts of Wilmington’s Cross City Trail, loop through Halyburton Park, and pass the Cameron Art Museum.
The Cameron Art Museum campus will be filled with live music and various artwork. Exhibitions at the museum are free before and after participants race. There will also be art activities and games for kids and food and drinks available for purchase.
The first 250 finishers will get a special medal handcrafted by local artists. There are also multiple awards for both the 5K and mile run.
Registration is open until a few hours before each event.
